Charis Vera N (or Ms C) is the Creative Director of Ms C's Little Blackbox.

Ms C's Little Blackbox was launched after 20 years as a theatre actress and has been running since June 2013.

Through Ms C’s Little Blackbox, Charis creates and runs Applied Drama in Psychology Programs - using theatre to engage youths who are classified as At-Risk/ NEET (Not In Education or Employment), Special Education Needs as well as those in mental health recovery.

Having worked in the area of Drama Education for over 10 years, Charis firmly believes in the use of drama as a means to reach and involve people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to be involved with theatre.

Trained as an Actress, Vocal Coach and an Educator, after her childhood acting classes, Charis studied Acting for Film in Hollywood’s Acting Corps.
Upon completion, she then enrolled in Singapore’s Intercultural Theatre Institute (formally TTRP) on a full scholarship. During her time at the Intercultural Theatre Institute, she had the opportunity to be immersed in the study of traditional Asian Theatre Art forms such as Kuttiyatam (Traditional Indian Theatre), juxtaposed by Western Theatre that included Corporeal Mime and the teachings of Grotowski and Stanislavski.

Charis is also a Certified Arts Award Advisor, running the only Arts Awards Centre outside of UK.

Charis’ training in Education & Special Needs includes being certified with the following:
- World Association of Psycho-Social Rehabilitation
- Teaching Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder (UC Davis)
- Youth Behaviour Management in the Arts
(Artswork, United Kingdom)
-
Arts Award Advisor
(

With an unwavering belief in the benefits of drama as a tool, she is committed to continue working with everyone and anyone who would like to explore the possibilities that Theatre offers.
